A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Marines recruiter accused of having sex with an underage child in Arkansas.

27-year-old Duncan Quade Weathers is wanted for one count of first-degree sexual assault with an underage person he was actively working with as a recruiter, according to the Independence County Sheriff’s office.

The child’s parents told police their child had been in contact with Weathers while he was at the child’s school promoting a career in the Marines.

They told police they uncovered the abuse after looking through their child’s phone.

A court affidavit stated the phone contained nude images of Weathers and an image of Weathers and the child in the child’s bed, according to Region 8 News.

The parents claim that when they confronted Weathers, he confessed to having sex with the child but said if they contacted the police “he was going to commit suicide so his wife could receive his military benefits”.

According to authorities, the child indicated they were groomed by Weathers, stating he told the child he wanted his relationship with recruits “to be on more of a friendly basis”.

Region 8 news expects his bond to be set at $20,000.
