Veterans Day Discounts, Free Meals and Specials for 2011


This year’s Veterans Day is truly special ~ 11-11-11.  We are grateful to the men and women who have served and continue to serve our nation. A big thank you goes out to the families who support our service members too! Many companies want to provide a token of their thanks offering free bed and breakfast stays, free dining, discounts, and more to veterans and their families. Veterans day is November 11th, but many companies offer discounts throughout the month of November or on November 10th. Check out the discounts below.



Applebee’s is offering a free entree on veterans and all active-duty military from 11 a.m. to midnight at all 1,900 locations. Check with Applebees to see what date this event takes place on.

McCormick & Schmick’s

87 locations in 25 states are offering free entrees to veterans. Check with the restaurant on what date they will be offering this meal. The chain also requests military ID and highly recommends reservations. The promotion is on Sunday instead of Veterans Day, “because it allows vets to bring their families who might not be available during the week,” CEO Bill Freeman says.

Golden Corral

The 485-unit chain is offering free buffet meals — including beverage and dessert — to current military and vets on a special day sometime in the week of Veterans. No military ID is required for its annual Military Appreciation Monday, says Dolly Mercer, national events manager. The event is held on this date, she says, “so we don’t interfere with Veterans Day activities.”

Melting Pot

Outback Steakhouse

Offers a free Bloomin’ Onion appetizer and a Coca-Cola to past and present military members November 7-11th.

Krispy Kreme

Has free doughnuts on Veterans Day.

Uno’s Chicago Pizza

Free entree or individual pizza with an entree or pizza purchase of equal or greater value  for veteran’s and active duty military. Show military ID, a picture of you in uniform, or show up in uniform.


Free 6 inch subs to all vets and active duty members at select locations.

Ruby Tuesday’s

Free cinnamon roll french toast. Do a google search because you’ll need to bring a coupon in.


Free taco for veterans and Active Duty


Veterans eat free all day long from the special Veterans menu at participating Hooters.

Famous Dave’s

Free entree up to $15 in value to 10% off checks.

TGI Fridays

Buy one get one free Nov 11-14. At participating locations for anyone with an old or current military ID. November 11-14.

Veterans and active-duty military receive free entrees.

The Northern Virginian restaurant is offering a free entree to veterans.

Hy-Vee Supermarkets

The mid-western supermarket chain is offering a free breakfast to veterans

Carolina Burgers & BBQ

In Matthews, NC is offering a free meal to all service members and veterans.



Home Depot and Lowe’s

Offer a 10% discount to military and vets (all year round).


Veterans Day weekend, Cabelas is offering their employee discount to all veterans, active duty military and reserves, law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel on November 11 and 12.  Discounts vary from 5% to 50% depending on the item and excludes guns, boats, trailers and safes.

Sam’s Club

Free canes for servicemembers in need of mobility assistance on November 9, 11, and 11th while supplies last.

Free Fee Day at National Parks on Veterans Day Wednesday, November 11th.

Anheuser Busch Companies

Knott’s Berry Farm

Aquarium of the Pacific

Offers free admission on November 11th for veterans, military personnel, police officers, and firefighters who show valid service.

Colonial Williamburg

Watch the procession to honor our military down Duke of Gloucester Street, 4:30 p.m., beginning at the Capitol. The parade culminates in a public ceremony, with militia and cannon crew firing volleys in recognition of those who serve. Hear Colonial Williamsburg’s Fifes and Drums, and speakers from past and present. Active duty military, guard and reservists, retirees, veterans and their dependents enjoy free admission passes… check with the website for specific dates.

Audubon Nature Institute

Audubon Nature Institute in New Orleans, LA salutes our nation’s military service members, both active duty and veterans, for their dedication and courage. As a special thank you we are offering complimentary admission to Audubon Zoo, Audubon Insectarium or Audubon Aquarium of the Americas for all military personnel (active and retired) on November 11, 2011.  Active or retired military personnel, or dependent, must show a military ID for admission at the Zoo, Aquarium or Insectarium front gate. This offer is valid for up to five (5) admissions and does not apply to Entergy IMAX® Theatre.

Free Bed and Breakfast Stay

B&Bs and Inns are providing free rooms on Wednesday, November 10, in observance of Veterans Day, November 11, to honor servicemen and women currently serving or who have previously served their country. The program was started in 2009 by the West Virginia B&B Association (formerly called MABB) and this year has expanded to include 48 states, 4 international locations and more than 700 Inns.

Reservations need to be made directly with the participating Inns and B&Bs. “We just wanted to say thank you to the courageous men and women from our armed forces”, says Kathleen Panek, owner of the Gillum House in Shinnston, WV. “These are some trying times for anyone serving or who has served and a good night’s rest is our way to say, thank you.” A valid Military or VA ID will be required for each reservation. Each B&B is making at least one room available on the night of Wednesday, November 10 (only) to active and retired military personnel. Availability is limited, so Inns may not have a specific room listed for the promotion and once the available rooms are booked, the B&B may not be able to provide another free room.

Brevard Zoo

Brevard Zoo in Melbourne Florida, in honor of Veteran’s Day, will offer free admission to military veterans and active-duty service members Nov. 11-13. The zoo will also provide free admission to spouses in the event the active-duty service member is currently deployed overseas.

Veterans Day Concert from the San Antonio Symphony

The San Antonio Symphony and the United States Air Force Band of the West will collaborate to offer a free Veterans Day concert at the Majestic Theatre on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 7 p.m. This free performance is part of the Chamber of Commerce’s week-long Celebrate America’s Military program.

Carolina Panthers Football

The Carolina Panthers are excited to offer for the Military Appreciation Day on October 30th and Veterans Day on November 13th.

Aquarium of the Bay San Francisco

Military member with their ID card will get a discount of $10 off the regular admission price, so instead of being $30.99 the ticket would become $20.99. Military family members with their ID cards will get a discount of $5 off the cost of a ticket, so the prices would be for family members $25.99 for general admission, $15.99 for children under 48″, and children three years and younger get in for free. The military members and family just need to show their ID’s at the gate to receive the discount.
