Four young men -including a US Marine- were killed after their vehicle collided with a tanker truck in New Jersey earlier this morning.

21-year-old Kevin Quispe-Prieto, 23-year-old Jimmy Quispe-Prieto, 24-year-old Victor Lugo and 23-year-old Lance Corporal Robert Ordenana were killed on-scene when their car made contact with the back of an oil tanker at high speed on the Garden State Parkway at around 0300 local time.

According to NBC4, Ordenana was a rifleman with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force- Crisis Response-Africa, a Marine Air-Ground Task Force that is permanently based at Morón Air Base in Spain. It is unknown how long he had been serving at the time of his death.

The driver of the tanker suffered minor injuries and was the first to notify authorities of the incident.

Law enforcement report that the area where the crash took place is notorious for high-speed wrecks, with a hump in the road creating visibility issues for vehicles that are going too fast, giving them little time to slow down when vehicles on the other side of the hump suddenly “appear” in front of them.

The lanes were closed for some time following the crash, which is currently under investigation.
