rolled sleeves jokesLast night, the Commandant of the Marine Corps announced that Marines will able to roll their sleeves once again at the transition on March 9th into desert cammies.

We posted the announcement on our Facebook page last night and it seemed that the wives and girlfriends of these Marines may have been more happy about the announcement than the Marines themselves.

“Excited, hubby’s going to show off his intimidators again! Yes!”

“So happy!!! My husband looks sooo hot with those sleeves rolled. Mmmmm”

Tricare, you’re officially on notice. We all know about the deployment reunion babies, but now the entire Marine Corps has been jinxed with Rolled Sleeves babies. It’s going to get busy all up in here.

Just as anxious as the wives have been to see the trend returned, it’s been the primary question asked when talking to the Commandant, as our CMC specifically addressed our NCOs: Sergeants and Corporals,

…“As we have travelled throughout our Corps, many of you have let us know how important your identity as a Marine is to you and the Marines you lead.  I can’t tell you how many times we have been asked the persistent question “Commandant, are we ever going to return to SLEEVES UP?”  I’ve thought a lot about this over the past 2 .5 years; I realize that it’s important to you.  Sleeves up clearly and visually sets us apart.”

Yes, sleeves do set Marines apart and those stationed in warm weather environments are pretty happy about this… but our friend Mollie Gross wants to know when they’re bringing silkies back?

  1. If you can allow those who wear a towel on their heads whilst in uniform than the allowance of rolled up sleeves….our guys do a hell of a job, rolled up sleeves should be the least of what they should be allowed to do…. Not to mention they all look like monsters with them up… LOVE IT!

  2. Turbans are worn by Muslims as well and should be granted the same allowances as any other religious entity in the military. And, it’s been a while since I checked with the lower ranks about downgrading women by making up names but the last time I heard, Wookie was a derogatory name for female Marines and dependapotmaus was a reference to an overweight wife of a Marine. I don’t know who you are George but anyone who supports Marines is good in my book regardless of their genitalia or weight.
