Two 19-year-old active Marines were arrested Tuesday for a string of armed robberies in 29 Palms, California.

The robberies took  place on Sunday and Monday at a Circle K and Motel 6 — and the third targeted an individual walking in the area of Aztec Avenue and Sunnyvale Drive, KESQ reported.

Deputies identified the suspects as Dustin Ray Smiley and Randall Lane Myrick. Police say on Sunday night a masked Myrick pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the Motel 6 clerk. According to witness accounts, a second suspect was waiting nearby in a getaway car.

Witnesses also described a masked man with a handgun in the other two robberies.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials issued a search warrant for a military housing apartment along Two Mile Road, where one of the suspects lived. They also served a search warrant at a barracks room aboard the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Base, where the other suspect reportedly lived.

The two Marines were arrested on base and police say stolen property was found at both locations.

Both men are behind bars, being held on $100,000 bail. They are due to appear in court tomorrow.
