A Santa Claus impersonator who authorities say volunteered regularly for Toys for Tots is facing drug charges after a traffic stop.
The 66-year-old was arrested after police officers spotted a crack pipe next to a Santa Claus costume during the stop.
Charles Smith was arrested at the time and his vehicle was searched where more drug paraphernalia was discovered including empty bags of crack, heroin, and a crack pipe according to CBS New York.
“Visiting Santa should be a happy joyful experience,” Mary Sorvino said, “Need to be better vetted.”
Smith does Santa work with “Toys for Tots,” police said, revealing that Smith had previously worked with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve aboard Picatinny Arsenal, according to the news source.
