“You know I’ve been seeing you walk by here every day… I’m giving away a free car,” says Richard Newberry. He owns the Auto and Tire shop in St Petersburg, Florida. He sees Ernestina Nunez walk a mile to work hauling bags every day to her job as a janitor.
Nunez hit such a low point in life. Her 33-year-old son, a Marine veteran, took his own life a year earlier.
One day she broke down in from of Newberry’s shop, saying she had nothing left to live for.
Newberry can relate to the troubles of having an empty tank after his troubled past and wants to help cheer her up, to help ease her burdens.
