In Fresno, California, U.S. Marine Dave Kind captured footage on his cellphone of a Circle K employee bragging about his deployment. At first he was ready to join in the conversation and share his own experiences until he began to believe, based on things the clerk was saying, that he was making it all up according to KMPH News.
In the recording, Kind calls out the clerk asking him what years he deployed and where he was stationed. It’s obvious after being asking these questions that his answers just don’t add up.
The clerk said he was “not a Hollywood Marine” and that went to boot camp in San Diego, claiming that Marines from Parris Island were “Hollywood Marines,” which is of course the opposite.
The store manager at the convenience store told KMPH that the worker is no longer employed at the store and added that “the kid was just joking.”
Dave Kind says he doesn’t care about personal recognition. He is just looking for an apology from the kid for all veterans.
