These kids move from school to school, say goodbye to friends, and pick up the pieces and start their lives over just weeks later. Sometimes our children are the last to be recognized for all they give up in the military journey, but there’s one child in particular who I believe deserves to be recognized.

Meet Michael-Logan Jordan, Marine ‘brat’ as he refers to himself in a Q&A, and this year’s Operation Homefront’s 2014 Military Child of the Year.

This kid has gusto. He has been living with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis his whole life and has spent most of his childhood giving back to others. He’s raised over $100,000 for the National Arthritis Foundation and donated all of his birthday presents for the last eight years to Toys for Tots and done toy drives (over 10,000+ toys) and so much more.

Logan says, “There is not a day that goes by that I’m not in some amount of pain,” he said. “However, that pain seems a little easier to bear when I’m focusing on helping others.” This kid amazes me with all he does to pay it forward to others. His father has been a Marine for more than twenty years and can relate to all the other military kids, “I’m 16 years old, have lived in 5 different states, attended 5 (soon to be 6) different schools, am on the Honor Roll…”

ChevySalutes TwitterI’m in awe of Logan and all that he has accomplished. He recently set up a program called Logan’s Heroes, where he has passed out and distributed all the awards money he received from Operation Homefront, The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, and others, so that he could help bless other military families in need.  He’s also given away all equipment received from the awards including three laptops!

I’ve partnered with #ChevySalutes to recognize an amazing military kid and I’d like to officially salute Michael-Logan Jordan, for your selflessness and benevolent work as a Marine Corps child. Another salute goes to mom, Becca Jordan, and dad Chris Jordan, for raising and supporting such a great kid. Thank you for brightening our lives and our Corps.
