Most Marines are quick to point out with pride Rob Riggle’s service in the Marine Corps. He’s a comedic genius but what most people don’t know is that he’s attended flight school. He’s also deployed several times to Liberia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. He was also there on ground zero on 9/11, looking for survivors after the attack.
When Riggle learned there was going to another Top Gun movie, he knew he had to audition for a role. The Blue Angels pitched in to help the Marine out and the result is hilarious.
“If there was a role I was meant to play, it was Maverick’s friend — or Maverick’s enemy — or a guy that kinda knows Maverick — whatever — it’s awesome.”
