Police looking for man who tried robbing and shot Marine vet walking to dialysis

A man shot to death during an attempted robbery on the West Side early Saturday has been identified.

, 60, was shot in the left arm in the 3200 block of West Franklin Boulevard early Saturday and pronounced dead at 5:43 a.m. Saturday at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Sharpe lived in the 4300 block of West Washington Boulevard, according to the office.

Sharpe was shot during an attempted robbery, police said.

He was walking about 4:55 a.m. Saturday on Franklin Boulevard to go to dialysis treatment for diabetes when a man with a gun approached him and demanded money, police said. The two men began to struggle and at some point, the robber shot Sharpe, police said.

The attacker was last seen going east on Franklin Boulevard. A description wasn’t released.
