Over 1,000 Marines are deploying to support the border operation

Around 1,100 Marines from Camp Pendleton have been given orders to assist Customs and Border Patrol Protection at the US-Mexico border.

The Department of Defense selected five southern California bases to support Operation Faithful Patriot. Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Naval Base Coronado, Naval Base San Diego and Naval Base Point Loma will be used for equipment and aircraft staging, a Department of Defense spokesperson told NBC.

It is not known when the Marines will deploy south by the spokesperson was able to say the deploying Marines are engineers who are trained in construction for the military.

Operation Faithful Patriot was developed in response to a caravan of migrants from various South American and Central American countries making their way north through Mexico to reach the United States’ southern border.
