A California military spouse was fatally stabbed less than a week after filing domestic abuse complaints against her Marine spouse, sources say.
The body of Yahaira Boykins was found by police after they performed a wellness check at her Laguna Hills apartment Thursday afternoon with authorities ruling that she was stabbed to death.
The young dental assistant and mother of three had recently filed a domestic abuse complaint and restraining order against her US Marine husband, identified as Jerel Boykins, whom her neighbors described as a volatile and violent man.
Boykins was Mrs. Boykins’ second husband and was identified to authorities by witnesses who were interviewed at the scene.
According to KTLA5, homicide investigation units have been on the scene and Mr. Boykins has been detained.
“We have a death investigation that we’re conducting. We’re trying to determine what exactly happened,” said Lt. Fred Thompson with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
