There’s a lot to be said about the bond women share. From late night secrets to early morning coffee dates, we keep each other sane, motivated and moving forward. Ask a woman why she’s able to accomplish so much in this world and she’ll likely tell you “I couldn’t do it without my girls.”
“My girls”. Every woman has them. Chances are as a military spouse, you have them all over the world. But despite the miles between you, the lessons and memories shared are never far from your thoughts.
So I’d like to take a second and say thank you.
Thank you for teaching me how to use a blow dryer correctly. Thank you for teaching me how to cook. Thank you for kicking my ass when I thought about throwing in the towel and just walking away. Thank you for laughing at my clumsiness and teaching me to embrace it rather than allow it to make me feel awkward.
Thank you for encouraging me to tell my truth and loving me through my fears.
For remembering my birthday when my family was thousands of miles away, my husband was deployed, and I felt so alone. Thank you for spending the holidays with me and creating “family” traditions.
Thank you for making goals with me. Thank you for accomplishing those goals with me. Thank you for failing with me too.
We’ve grown up together. Not in the “I’ve known them since kindergarten” kind of way. But in the “I’m the adult I am today because this person was there” kind of way.
You. Are. My. Rock. My happy place. My let’s put on our pajamas, eat tubs of ice cream and have a movie marathon day kind of joy.
I will never be able to put into words the love I have for you, or the huge impact you’ve had in my life, but that won’t stop me from trying.
Because that, my friend, is the kind of person you’ve made me become.
Make sure to say thank you to a military spouse today!
My life is blessed by being a military spouse. My husband is the bright spot of my life, but so are all of my other milspouse friends! Life is good 🙂
