LtGen Robert Neller, who has served in roles across the Marine Corps for 40 years, is about to begin his newest position as the 37th Commandant of the United States Marine Corps. LtGen Neller previously served as Commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command. A graduate of University of Virginia and Pepperdine University, LtGen Neller was commissioned as a Marine Officer in the Platoon Leaders Class program in 1975. Called a “warrior” and “statesman” by Defense Secretary Ash Carter, LtGen Neller will begin his term in September.
Gen Joseph Dunford has been confirmed as the newest Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Of Staff, and will become the nation’s highest ranking military officer and serve as the primary military adviser to the President. Gen Dunford becomes only the second Marine to serve in the role, and will begin his term in September.
