Marine veteran turned police officer shot in head, will undergo surgery

The veteran Braintree police officer who was shot last night, identified this morning as 36-year-old c, will undergo surgery later today to attempt to remove a bullet in his head, authorities said.

Delaney, a former veteran, has received two awards for life-saving acts as a Braintree cop, officials said.

Authorities also said the man who allegedly shot Delaney was found dead in his hotel room early this morning after an hourslong armed standoff.

The man was identified as Tizaya Jordan Robinson, 25. Robinson allegedly opened fire on Braintree officers when they tried to gain entry to his hotel room to serve him with a restraining order. Officers returned fire as they evacuated Delaney.

Authorities said Robinson had a history of weapons charges, and had an open warrant for domestic assault and kidnapping.
