2.23.16  Update: MARINE BANNED FROM DAUGHTER’S GRADUATION. The Marine’s lawyers from the Thomas More Law Center stated they recently filed a motion that would overturn the school’s ban on the father, according to WND.

The school has since banned the Marine and father by placing a no-trespass order to stop him from speaking out against the school at the parent meeting, which his attorneys say violates the First Amendment.

They also claim that the ban is depriving the father of meaningful involvement in the direction of his daughter’s education, saying, “by giving a principal unfettered discretion to ban him – the father of a student – from school grounds without any hearing or opportunity to defend himself because he brought to light the school’s unconstitutional practices.”

2.5.16: A Marine veteran and his wife are preparing a lawsuit against their daughter’s high school.  The La Plata High School in Maryland is accused of forcing their 16-year-old daughter to take classes that promote Islam over Christianity and Judaism.

Their daughter, who is in 11th grade, allegedly was forced to say ”There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”

Thompson assets that reciting such a statement for non-Muslims, is the equivalent of converting to Islam.

Her father, John Wood, is a former Marine who served eight years in the Marine Corps and was deployed in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

After serving in the Marine Corps, he became a firefighter and responded to the Pentagon during the attack on September 11, 2001.

According to the Daily Mail, Wood’s daughter and her fellow students were required to memorize and recite the Five Pillars of Islam and were subjected to “disparaging teachings about Christianity.”

The President and Chief Counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, Richard Thompson, said, “Such discriminatory treatment of Christianity is an unconstitutional promotion of one religion over another.”

He continued to say, “Parents must be ever vigilant to the Islamic indoctrination of their children under the guise of teaching history and multiculturalism. This is happening in public schools across the country. And they must take action to stop it.”

    1. Nowhere have I read the child was ‘FORCED TO CONVERT” to Islam. Not even right wing rags had such headlines nor do the parents make such a claim, nor does their lawsuit make such a claim. Such purposefully inaccurate reporting does a disservice to the title Marine…STOP IT!

    2. This is terrible journalism. Do some fact checking and you will discover this article is untrue! Stop promoting this garbage as truth!

    3. While the title of this article is inaccurate, the story is true. I live in the area this happened. Not only was the student taught islam and had to memorize the 5 pillars, when the father went to the school to complain about the content of the class, he was banned from the school and the premises. The father wanted to know why the teacher had deviated from the syllabus and focused on islam without parents consent. My son took the same class in 11th grade and did not have the same in-depth “islam” teaching as this teacher decided to do. HMmmmm same school district, different teacher………..But I do agree this specific article is poorly written and misleading. She was not forced to convert, but was made to copy the same written language that read “there is but one god, allah” and memorize the pillars. In public schools, this should not be made mandatory for any religion.
