More than 100 people gathered at The Leatherneck Club Sunday to celebrate the life of Caroline Rose, a U.S. Marine veteran killed on Saturday.

Rose was riding a motorcycle near Las Vegas on Interstate 15 when a dark Toyota vehicle moved into her lane, causing her to swerve to avoid a collision around 1 a.m., Highway Trooper Jason Buratczuk said.

After the motorcycle swerved, Rose hit the traffic barrier and was ejected from her motorcycle. She later died after being taken to the University Medical Center, Buratczuk said.

Police are looking for the driver of the dark Toyota; they are unaware if the driver knew they cut off the motorcyclist.

The Highway Patrol is asking witnesses to contact NHP at 702-486-4100.
