Wisconsin Marine veteran Shaun Kettner is embroiled in a legal battle with the VA and his former employer who fired him because he wanted to bring his service dog to work.

Kettner says he needs his dog Sig to help him get through daily activities and cope with stress due to his PTSD diagnosis.

His former employer, L&S Electric, says he failed to complete proper paperwork in order to bring Sig to work, according to KTNV.

Kettner says the VA was concerned he’d be violating HIPPA laws if he brought Sig in to work with him, so the agency refused to sign the necessary paperwork.

Last month, he was suspended without pay and last week received a message from L&S saying he was fired.

The company was telling him that he resigned– which Kettner insists is false. He told the local NBC station he’s made numerous attempts to show them he wants to go back to work.

He’s now in the process of filling out the paperwork to file a formal discrimination charge against the company.
