Marine vet calls police after discovering grenade in his attic

Teufel_Hunden_US_Marines_recruiting_posterA Bluffton man called  County Sheriff’s Office Thursday saying he found a  in the attic of his home on Burnt Church Road in Bluffton, according to police reports.

The man said he was cleaning out when he came across what he believed was a “CS” gas  (teargas) in a crate, the report states. He advised police it was likely about 40 years old from when he served in the Marine Corps.

Deputies contacted the bomb squad for the , which the man said was now sitting in the passenger side of his truck. A captain with the bomb squad inspected the  and advised he believed it was a gas  which could contain deadly gas.

The bomb squad took charge over the , the report states.
