Pete Pontzer, an administrative judge in Virginia, and Duncan Harris, a Marine reservist from Illinois, were both on vacation on July 28th, 2015

They witnessed a teenage boy being pulled down in the currents, drowning. Another teen near him would be saved by the two heroes.

Marine reservist LCpl Duncan Harris will receive a Carnegie award from the Hero Fund Commission, an honor that approximately 88 people receive in North America each year.

“It means a lot more to me that we were able to help somebody,” Harris says.

The Marine received a Navy and Marine Corps Medal in August.
