A Marine gunnery sergeant vet has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison on sex offense charges as part of plea deal reached just minutes before the victim was supposed to testify.
35-year-old Brian Callendar was arrested by Jacksonville police in 2014 with 3 counts of statutory rape with a child, 2 counts of indecent liberties with a child, and 3 counts of child abuse.
Callendar pled guilty to one count of attempted statutory sex offense and one count of indecent liberties with a child. The prosecutor relayed that the family believed the plea deal was in the best interest of the victim.
