Marine pilot hospitalized after Hornet jet crash in Nevada desert

The pilot of an F/A-18C Hornet is safe after ejecting just prior to the plane crashing during a training flight near Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada, on Tuesday.

The Marine pilot was approximately 10 miles southeast of Fallon and flying back to base around 10:45 a.m. just prior to the crash, according to a NAS Fallon news release.

The pilot is currently hospitalized and recovering. Both crashes involved aircraft from the 3rd Marine Air Wing, according to a Fox news report.

Officials are currently investigating the cause of the accident. This crash comes just days after another Hornet crash took the life of a fellow Marine pilot.
