A Marine Corps medallion was stolen from a Suffolk County Veterans Memorial around 11 p.m. on Sunday; none of the other medallions on the memorial were tampered with.
In a statement made by the local mayor Allan M. Dorman, the medallion is about the size of a basketball or a large plate, and has the Marine Corps motto “Semper Fidelis” on it.
A reward of $5000 is being offered by the Village of Islandia and Suffolk County Police Crime Stoppers to information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the theft of the medallion.
Anyone with information is being asked to call Village Hall at 631-348-1133 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
All calls will be kept confidential.
That’s pretty low.
