A Marine is now in custody after firing an officer’s gun at Camp Lejeune Hospital Sunday night, according to Marine Corps officials.

It’s reported the Marine grabbed the officer’s weapon while in the waiting room around 6:30pm and fired it, according to a statement release by Nat Fahy, director of Public Affairs for Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. Unofficial reports state the officer was a Marine Corps Civilian Law Enforcement Officer.

Security sprung into action where the Marine was restrained. He was admitted and remains in supervised care, Fahy said. Officials do not suspect premeditation by the Marine and no injuries were report.

The incident is currently being investigated by NCIS, Naval Criminal Investigative Services. No charges have been filed and the Marine’s identity has not been released.
