The 18-year-old Marine, from North Carolina, who was recently charged with desertion and murdering his own grandmother has been charged once more with the murder of a 33-year-old man.

Isaiah Kahleal Evans Caesar faces the new charges following his recent capture by local authorities in connection to the murder of his grandmother, 74-year-old Sallie Copeland Evans, whose corpse was recently dredged from a creek near her home.

Caesar was tracked down after taking his grandmother’s car and credit card, hastily spray-painting the vehicle black and using the card to stay in a hotel. During his capture, police found explosive materials in his room, prompting an evacuation of the inn.

Stationed with a Marine detachment at Georgia’s Fort Benning, Caesar left without permission to leave on April 2nd and was reportedly encouraged by his grandmother to return to duty.  She reportedly asked one of her neighbors to drive Caesar to a military installation within North Carolina.

With Caesar in custody, authorities have now linked him to the death of Roderick Bluesky Mills, a father who was found dead on April 11.

According to the Associated Press, investigators say they have evidence linking Caesar to the crime but haven’t elaborated.
