A US Marine colonel sitting in the Camp Lejeune brig for reported cases of sexual assault and pedophilia is expected to plead not guilty when he steps into the courtroom- whenever that may be.

55-year-old Colonel Daniel H. Wilson is accused of inappropriately touching a young girl under the age of 10, inappropriately touching a woman and fraternizing with a female officer while overseas, according to California-based attorney Phillip Stackhouse.

Stackhouse says Wilson denies the charges, which came after the daughter of a family friend told her mother that Wilson had touched her inappropriately.

“There’s no objective, physical evidence at all,” Stackhouse said.

Wilson is also accused of trying to give alcohol to the girl and her sister, something Stackhouse finds “silly.”

“The allegation is: The families were all together and one of the girls comes up to him and says, ‘Hey, what are you drinking?’- and he’s drinking Scotch,” Stackhouse said. ‘He says: “Apple juice. Do you want some?’- and everybody laughs.”

Stackhouse said that the government not only has a severe lack of evidence, there is inconsistency in the testimonies.

There’s inconsistent statements in the allegations. There’s also suggestibility in the interview of the children,” he told Marine Corps Times.

In addition to the child case, Wilson denies sexually assaulting a former friend of his wife as well as an “overly familiar” relationship with a female Australian military officer.

Stackhouse maintains that “no physical evidence” exists on the claims.

Wilson was thrown into the brig on January 13 on charges of sexual abuse of a child; assault consummated by battery on a child under the age of 16; failure to obey a general order or regulation, conduct unbecoming of an officer, sexual assault, assault consummated by battery and absence without leave.
