TWENTYNINE PALMS — A stationed at Twentynine Palms was arrested in connection to a hit-and-run that killed two teens and critically injured a third in North Carolina earlier this year.
Christian , 21, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Twentynine Palms on an outstanding warrant out of North Carolina, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s booking records show.
The warrant was issued after the Harnett County District Attorney’s Office filed two counts of felony hit and run causing death or serious bodily injury, one count of felony hit and run causing injury, altering and removing evidence, conspiracy to alter or remove evidence, obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice charges against , according to North Carolina news station, ABC11.
Five teens, including 13-year-old Jennafer Schark and 16-year-old Kyle Strait, went to a convenience store in Broadway, N.C. to grab some snacks around 11:15 p.m. Jan. 17, according to North Caroline Highway Patrol officials.
They were walking back when a white or a light-colored SUV hit three of the teens and drove off. Jennafer and Kyle were killed. A third teen, Steven Daniels, 14, was critically injured.
“One minute my sister was there and the next she wasn’t,” Jennafer Schark’s sister, Jessyka, told ABC11. “I ran up the road and she was on the ground and the truck just sped off. They didn’t stop.”
It’s unclear what was doing in Broadway when the fatal crash took place.
is being held without bail at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga and is scheduled Friday to be in San Bernardino Superior Court for a hearing.
