It happened on October 11, 2015 — Captain Trey Kennedy was the first on scene at a NATO helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Nine people were trapped inside. Despite the risk of explosion, Kennedy stood in jet fuel to get everyone out.

He’s going to be awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism, America’s highest non-combat award for heroism.

Kennedy will be awarded during Clemson vs. Carolina game.
