1.14.16 Update: North Carolina District Attorney files dismissal charges for Marine Justin Abbot accused of indecent exposure.
The DA’s office is stepping aside to let the Marine Corps press charges against SSgt Justin Abbot who has been accused of exposing himself to students on a school bus.
“Marine Corps takes all allegations of misconduct very seriously, you guys can expect a thorough investigation as well as full corporation with civilian authorities,” said 1st. Lt. Danielle Phillips with Camp Lejeune’s II MEF Public Affairs.
SSgt Abbot is likely to face harsher charges and a longer sentence if convicted through the UCMJ. Local news station WNCT confirmed that Abbott is still being held in the brig at Camp Lejeune.

12.8.15: A Marine accused of exposing himself to students on a school bus didn’t show up for court this morning because he was in the brig. SSgt Justin Abbot was arrested Friday afternoon on three counts of felony indecent exposure and four counts of misdemeanor indecent exposure.
After Dixon High School students reported he exposed himself to the bus, the 28 year old bonded out of jail and was supposed to appear before a District Court Judge for a first appearance yesterday morning, but never showed.
Turns out the Marine was in the brig and has been since he bonded out of jail. It isn’t known why it wasn’t communicated to the county court, they discovered he was in the brig while in the process of issuing a bench warrant.
