Marine veteran John Peck has successfully received a double arm transplant at the Bringham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
In May 2010, he lost his legs and left arm when he stepped on an IED while on duty in Afghanistan.
Peck was in a coma for three months. It took him about two years to recover.
Peck is set to speak at a news conference at the hospital on Wednesday.
Hand and arm transplants have been successfully performed on over 85 people around the world, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.
