A man has arrested and charged with receiving $130,000 in benefits through the VA after claiming he served in the Marine Corps.

43-year-old Shawn Oliger had served during the time period claimed, but it wasn’t in the Marine Corps, instead he was serving jail time in Arizona, according to the Associated Press.

He’s now been charged with theft of government money in federal court in Cincinnati.

Court documents show that Oliger applied for disability compensation and was wrongly logged into a military service database, but then made up his claim about being a vet because he needed medical care.
