29 Palms front gateA local Twentynine Palms woman was arrested after hitting a Marine with her vehicle. Michelle Anders, 47, first tried to enter the base through the main gate off Adobe Road about 9 a.m., according to KCDZ and a Sheriff’s report.

Reports show that Anders drove to the Ocotillo Gate where once again she was questioned with why she wanted base access. Anders refused to pull over for paper verification and allegedly drove her Ford F-150 into a U-Turn around the gate entry point.

A military policeman tried stopping Anders, ordering her to stop and stood in the outbound lane with his hands extended. Anders accelerated and continued driving through the exit, striking the police officer on the shoulder with her side mirror as he tried jumping out of the way to avoid being run over.

Civilian officers were able to identify and arrest Michelle Anders in the 74500 block of Serrano Drive in Twentynine Palms from the paperwork left in the PMO’s hands as she fled. She was arrested at approximately 5:40 p.m.for investigation of assault on a law enforcement officer, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, and released on $50,000 bail.
