Almost everyone I know has a smartphone. There are so many apps out there, I wanted to bring your attention to some of my favorite.
Total Pay: Do you ever wish you could run some quick numbers to find out what your new BAH (basic allowance for housing) or new promotion pay will be? Of course, there’s an App for that. Even cooler, this this app was developed by an active duty Marine. Check out his site.
Regardless of your pay grade or branch of service, you want to make sure you’re being paid the amount you’ve earned. And now there’s an app for that. Total Pay, designed for use by federal civilian employees and active duty military, will calculate your base pay, allowance, special duty and incentives pays. Currently available only for iPhones users, the app is downloadable from the iTunes store. The one-time, 99 cent cost entitles you to free updates for life. Check out the article on this amazing Marine and other benefits of his app.
PTSD Coach: PTSD Coach was designed for Veterans and military Service Members who have, or may have, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This app provides users with education about PTSD, information about professional care, a self-assessment for PTSD, opportunities to find support, and tools that can help users manage the stresses of daily life with PTSD. Tools range from relaxation skills and positive self-talk to anger management and other common self-help strategies. Users can customize tools based on their preferences and can integrate their own contacts, photos, and music. This app can be used by people who are in treatment as well as those who are not. PTSD Coach was created by VA’s National Center for PTSD and DoD’s National Center for Telehealth & Technology.
FOCUS on the Go: The mobile app is a fun and engaging tool for busy Military and Veteran families and their children. Children, adolescents and parents can play a suite of games alongside the app’s cartoon character, Buddy Bear, to practice identifying and talking about feelings and to collect tools for calming down in challenging situations.
Kids, careers, deployments, and moves are often a big part of your military life. It can be a challenge managing everything to keep your military family moving in the right direction.
MyMilitaryLife is a new app created by the National Military Family Association to help military spouses navigate the many adventures of military life. Download the app, fill out a brief questionnaire, and receive personalized to-do lists to get to your goal and resources to use along the way.
