VA doctors will no longer have the chance to recommend marijuana as a treatment in states where pot is legal for treatment.

According to Alternet, Republicans on the House Rules Committee put an end to the “Veterans Equal Access” amendment. In essence, the bill wasn’t included in the House proposed VA funding bill which killed the bill.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) has been critical against the VA, citing opioid addiction and says that the VA has failed veterans.

Even though the bill had bipartisan support, Blumenauer called out the House Rules Committee for killing it saying, “But somehow the House Rules Committee decided it wasn’t going to allow this amendment.”
