A Marine veteran who was fatally shot during a carjacking in Miami Gardens was laid to rest on Friday.

Guillero Comme’s funeral featured a long procession with motorcyclists escorting his wife.

“I didn’t expect this much support from anybody. I didn’t know the community was going to come together this way,” Laura Comme said.

Police said Guillermo Comme, 27, was shot in the head early Sunday after a family get-together in Miami Gardens near Northwest 44th Court and 198th Street.

The man who attempted to carjack him, Demetrius Oscar Williams, 18, was shot by Comme’s relative and died the next day at Aventura Hospital.

Members of the community who heard what happened gathered with the victim’s loved ones Friday to ride from Pembroke Pines to the funeral home in Hialeah.

Comme’s wife said her husband, who had previously been deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq, liked to ride his motorcycle and wanted others to ride in remembrance of him.
