Skip the traditional blue jeans this fall and mix it up with some color! The trend of colored denim lasted through spring and summer… and it has now made its way into fall. I will admit that I didn’t jump into the colored trend right away. You could rarely find me switching from my usual black or dark jeans, but I will now admit that I own six different colorful pairs!
How to wear them.
One of the reasons I didn’t think I could rock the colorful hues was that it was simply too much! When I started, I kept it very safe. Do this by using the colored jeans as a basic in your wardrobe, like you would with a plain colored top. I would throw on my red pair with a plain white tee, some nude colored sandals (again because I didn’t want to have too much color on) and a long gold necklace and I was out the door to run my errands.
I felt like the pop of color added some personality to my outfit, more than just plain denim would. Then, when I decided to get a little more daring, I started mixing color! Biggest thing to remember is to make sure you are choosing the right color combinations. You don’t want to clash! One of my favorite color combos this fall is anything with burgundy and mustard. You can even dress up colored denim for a night out by pairing them with a silk blouse and some sassy pumps.
Where to buy them?
This trend has become so popular that even babies are sporting the colored craze. (Yes, my one year old has a pink and purple pair!) Lots of stores have started to carry this trend all in different styles of jeans. A few of the styles that I really like are Old Navy and Urban Outfitters.
Both have a wide variety of color so you can find the perfect shade to add to your collection. If you want to start with a cheaper pair, just to see if you like them, try Forever21. The colors vary, but usually they have some pretty good options.
Best colors for the fall.
During spring/summer neon and pastel colors were all the rage, but now that is getting cooler find some in a deeper and richer colored hue. Look for earthy tones such as moss green or rust. If you decide to just get one color this fall, grab up an “oxblood” colored pair and you will be right on trend. Its this falls hottest color in anything fashion! (Similar to a burgundy or wine colored red) This shade goes so well with many colors that you may already have in your wardrobe such as navy, brown, green, and mustard.
