Many of us give to charities over the holiday season, but do you know which charity is better with their money? There is a really great website called Charity Navigator which displays and ranks charities based on how each charity manages their finances, CEO salaries, whistleblower policies and more. I wanted to provide a brief rundown of charities which utilizes a higher percentage of donations received to support people rather than the organization administration or what some call “Financial Health”.
Some Notable Military Charities Include:
Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund: 4 Stars all the way around. One of the best organizations which help all military branches, utilizing 95% of funds received to help others including the wounded and critically ill and their families. This charity gets the USMC Life vote for best charity to donate to!
Operation Homefront of So Cal: 4 stars overall and financial heath, 3 stars for accountability and transparency.
Wounded Warrior Project: 3 star ratings overall, 2 stars for financial health, and 4 stars for accountability and transparency. Want to check out some more ways to give to troops? Check out this link for highest to lowest ranked charities.
Other large charities include:
American Ross Cross: 3 stars for financial health, 4 stars for overall as well as accountability and transparency.
Orange County United Way: 3 stars for overall and financial health, 4 stars for accountability and transparency. There are other United Ways with higher and lower ratings.
