A Marine out of Camp Pendleton, California has pleaded guilty to accusations of fatally beating his 7-month-old boy.

Pleading guilty to second degree murder, 23-year-old Stanford Morocho will be sentenced to anywhere from 15 years to life imprisonment by May 4th.

According to Fox 5,  Deputy District Attorney Ryan Saunders said that Morocho had shared custody of his son, Emilio, with the child’s mother, whom Saunders had an estranged relationship with.

Morocho had only had his son for 10 days in December of 2014 before he beat him to death, with the baby suffering a skull fracture, broken ribs, internal bleeding and bruises.

Oceanside police detectives reportedly managed to extract incriminating details concerning the case while Morocho was being interrogated.

Initially pleading not guilty to the case, Morocho is being held on a $5 million bail.
