A Camp Pendleton Marine died Friday evening near the North County checkpoint at 8:05 pm.
The Marine was driving a 2006 Chevy Silverado truck northbound when he slammed into the back of a semi, which was slowing to enter the inspection site, according to CBS-8. The truck became trapped under the semi and the Marine died at the scene.
The 22-year-old Marine’s identity has not been released, but local news states the Marine listed a home address in Kayenta, Arizona.
The crash is still under investigation. The driver of the semi was not hurt.
