CAMP — Firefighters were attempting to douse a wildfire Tuesday evening that had burned 25 to 30 acres on this expansive U.S. Marine Corps base, said Capt. Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Authority.
The OCFA received a call for assistance about a east of Camp Pendleton fire breaks out near Cristianitos Road at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 11. The county agency is assisting Camp firefighters. About 50 firefighters, with the help of helicopters, are on the scene, Kurtz said.
“No homes are being threatened, and the cause of the is under investigation,” Kurtz said.
Kurtz said firefighters are setting up a perimeter to control the blaze.
Last month, firefighters contained a 760-acre on the base.
