A US Marine at Camp Lejeune is facing charges after investigators learned that he shot his roommate during an argument.
Donnie L. Leake was arrested last weekend and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
According to WAVY, the Marine, who is currently at the Onslow County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.
Leake reportedly shot the victim -a fellow Marine- in the neck, and had injuries of his own when police arrived.
“The Marine was transported to Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune following the incident and was listed in stable condition,” 2nd Marine Logistics Group spokesman 1st Lt. Kevin Stapleton said in a statement to the Marine Corps Times. “The Marine was subsequently treated for injuries suffered from the shooting and released back to their parent command on December 6.”
It is believed alcohol played a role in the incident.
