According to ABC10, Brandy fell asleep without locking her apartment door on the night of September 23, 2015.  During the night a thief snuck into her Shadow Hill apartment in Santee, CA, to steal cash, credit cards, and Brandy’s son’s Marine Corps challenge coins.

“It’s a souvenir. It’s a, you did this, you rocked this, you graduated, ” Dean said. “It’s like their ribbon, but it means a lot more.”

The thief unknowingly stole other priceless items when she snatched Brandy’s purse.  Brandy had made DVD’s with photos for all of the families who could not attend the training graduation.  She was preparing to send them to families all across the country.

A few hours after her apartment was broken into, the thief was captured on a La Mesa gas station’s surveillance using Brandy’s credit cards.  The San Diego County Sheriff’s office has listed the woman as a person of interest in the case.
