Kerebekki or “Butterfly” Turkish Dining: Affordable and great turkish food. Open from 11:30am-3:00pm (last order at 2:30pm) and dinner from 6:00pm-11:00pm. Closed on Wednesdays. 098-944-4747. Directions: To get there, head south on 330 until you reach 241 (it’s just past expressway entrance #2 and you could take the expressway to this exit, Nishihara #2 and just turn left on 330). Take the service road to be able to turn left on 241. You’ll see the American embassy on your right. Just keep following 241 until you reach 38. Turn left onto 38. Once on 38, you’ll see a huge sign “JEF” on the left and a bike shop on the right. The Turkish Restaurant is immediately past the bike shop on the right with a red sign. Ono Kau Kau: Hawaiin cuisine open for lunch and dinner. Kid friendly. Best items are kahlua and pork, garlic chicken, teriyaki chicken, BBQ ribs, and sho-yu chicken. Their yakitori and soba are pretty good as well. Open from 10:00am-9:00pm seven days a week. Directions: from Gate 1 turn south (left) onto Hwy 58. Sunable Gyros: An intimate restaurant featuring Greek food where you can try falafel sets and yummy gyro sets. Directions: To get the Gyros, take Hwy 58 toward Kadena. At the stoplight right before Kadena Gate 1, take a left. Go through all the stoplights. After the last stoplight, Gyros is about half a block down on the right on the 2nd floor. Russian Restaurant Perestroika: Great Russian dining in a great environment. Items on the menu are broken into different courses. Menus are available in English. Open Mon-Sat from 6:00pm-12:00am. Closed Sundays 098-863-2206. Directions: From Kadena Gate 1, go south on 58 toward Naha. You will pass Camps Foster, Futenma and Kinser. You will also pass Arin Krin (Garlic) and Kokusai St. Once you pass Kokusai St. You will see a blue sign (1 left turn, 3 right turns). After the 2nd sign, take an immediate left. Once on this street, you are going to look to your right and park in the per-hour parking or garage. Once parked, you’re going to want to walk down the street going south just a little ways and you will see Perestroika on your right-hand side.
