50’s Café: Variety of burgers for around 500-1050 yen and breakfast items. Open Tue-Fri 11:00am-9:30pm, Sat & Sun 10:00am-9:30pm. Closed Mondays. 098-938-7719. Directions: Go out Kadena Gate 3. Follow straight until 329. Go left on 329. Proceed until exit 5 of the expressway. Go right at that intersection. 50s Diner is a short distance at the top of the hill on the right.
Sam’s by the Sea: A fantastic atmosphere adorned featuring seafood and steaks. Beautiful exotic birds, tiki torches, and island faire. This is a place you want to go to have a very nice dinner or celebratory event. Open 4:30pm-12:00am daily. Credit Cards accepted. 098-937-3421. Directions: In Awase. Drive down Gate 2 Street, pass over the 85, continue to the end near the water and follow to the left. Take a left at the end and the restaurant’s on the right. Big boat and tiki torches. Can’t miss it.
The Rose Garden: Normally they serve Italian food, but if you want an American breakfast… this is the place to go. Open 8:00am-12:00am (last order at 11:00pm). 098 932-2800. Directions: From Camp Foster exit out the Legion or PX gate turn left. Straight shot approximately 2 Km passing McDonald’s on the right then coming up to the large Okinawa Expressway, The Rose Garden is on the right side. You need to go to the first light and make a U turn then back to The Rose Garden on the left.
Wing King: Fantastic breaded chicken in a variety of flavors like honey BBQ, spicy coconut, spicy barbeque, lemon pepper and more. There’s one near Kadena and one near Foster. Takeout is available.

Directions from Kadena (From 58). Turn onto Rt 23. Look for an AU building on your right. Wing King is just after that on the left hand side of the road, right after “The Eagle Lodge” in a strip mall.
Pancake House Jakkepos: Let the syrup flow in this itty bitty yum house. Pancakes, bacon and sausage galore. Open at 9:00am-6:00pm. Closed Tue/Wed. Phone: 098-894-4185. Directions: There are several ways to get to Jakkepoes, I’ve updated my previous directions w/ these from “Tom” who commented below. They are nice and straightforward. Heading north on Route 6, proceed past the main gate for Torii. Turn left at the 4th traffic light past the gate. Proceed to the first stop sign (perhaps 300 meters), and turn right. Straight ahead for approx 300 meters, you’ll see the quilt shop (Matsurika) on the left (and on the right side of the road, a small sign, low-to-the-ground, with white letters on a dark brown background, pointing across the street and down the road. Turn left here. Straight ahead about 200 meters, is Jakkepoes! So…left, right, and then left again. Simple!
Sea Side Jet City Burgers: Burgers and the fixings. Open 11:30am-2:00pm for lunch and dinner 6:00pm-12:00am. 098-936-8987.
Gordie’s Burgers: Good burgers, onion rings, fries. Open from 11:00am-10:00pm. Closed on Thursdays.
Stacks: BBQ style food including ribs, chicken and fish. Open 3 days a week, Wed, Fri and Sat from 6:00pm-10:00pm (last order at 9:30pm).
