GETTING TO AND FROM | YOUTH CARE, ACTIVITIES & SPORTS
To the South, Topsail Island with its unique Military History has a relaxing lack of commercialization, and was the filming location for the popular Nicholas Sparks movie, Nights in Rodanthe. Further to the North is Emerald Isle, which is the southernmost town on the 23 mile Barrier Island of Bogue Banks. Originally settled by English colonists, this Beautiful Island town just celebrated its 50th year of Incorporation, and maintains a relaxed, yet upbeat atmosphere. The Bogue Banks Island ends with Atlantic Beach at the Northern Tip, which is home to Historic Fort Macon, where it said that the ghosts of Civil War Soldiers still guard the entrance to Beaufort Inlet to this day.
Housing Rentals Off Base for Marine Corps Lejeune
The BAH Basic Allowance for Housing Camp Lejeune is zip 28452. The closest major town is Jacksonville, NC. If you plan on moving off base, know that the wait to get on the base at the main gate in the mornings is very slow; delays can be 30 minutes to an hour. Keep in mind the other gates on the base and potentially moving to another part of town where you can get on and off base easier. Swansboro is a highly recommended town to live off base at.
