Child Care Programs
Children, Teen, and Youth Programs: Offers family care referrals (on base home daycares), School Age Care for after school programs, and CDC (Child Development Center) which takes children six weeks thru six years.
Child Development Center: Offers hourly, part time or full time child care for children 6 weeks thru 5 years. They recently opened a new water play area at the CDC.
Family Childcare: Family childcare is available for children in homes or in government facilities. Check the link for more information.
Base Boys and Girls Club: Before and after school care for elementary thru high school. Monday through Friday 6:00am-8:30am, and after school Monday-Friday 3:00pm-6:00pm (Wed 1:00pm-6:00pm because of early release).
Youth Program: 6-18 years with a separate teen room. Open Monday-Friday 3:00pm-7:00pm and Saturdays 9:00am-6:00pm. There’s also a “Smart Girls” and “Torch Club” program for boys and girls grades fourth thru sixth. Late Night Fridays are also available with a safe alternative for kids. *Closed due to lack of funding*
Exceptional Family Member Program: Information and referrals. The Respite Careprogram allowing up to 40 hours a month for children with special needs.
First Five Resource: Focusing on services to help children through age 5. Free classes, health seminars and preschool services.
Base Swimming Lessons: Offered in summer.
Barstow Parks and Recreation: List of activities from the City of Barstow you can get the kids enrolled in. These are services offered in town. You will probably have some military kids participating, but note, this is not a military sponsored activity. They have a skatepark, Fogleson Park heated swimming pool, Sessions Sports Park, and youth sports program including baseball, basketball and more. They also sponsor a tot program.
