Another Marine Corps Commander has been fired making it the fifth firing in recent months, four of those out of Camp Lejeune, but all from North Carolina.

Lt. Col. Jeffrey Brown, a Camp Lejeune infantry battalion commander, was relieved in early June according to the Marine Corps Times, but the firing had just recently come to light because there was no misconduct or investigation connected to it.

Brown was the commander of 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines at the time he was relieved according to Marine spokesman Lt. Col. Michael Armistead.

The commander of 2nd Marine Regiment at the time, Col. Daniel Greenwood, lost confidence in Brown’s ability to lead the battalion according to Armistead.

Brown has been reassigned elsewhere within II MEF.

Lt. Col. Scott Stephan took over command of 2/2 in Brown’s stead.
