TEHRAN (FNA)- campaign by the Iraqi , popular forces, as well as Kurdish Peshmerga forces to liberate the city of Mosul from ISIL terrorists in Iraq continued on Sunday, resulting in more advances by pro-government forces, with the sources reporting that 53 villages in the vicinity of the last stronghold of ISIL in Iraq have been liberated since the beginning of the crucial operation.
53 Villages Liberated near Mosul in 6 Days
Iraq’s joint forces have seized back over 50 villages since the beginning of Mosul operation six days ago, media reports said.
“The Iraqi media managed to take full control of 53 villages after killing hundreds of ISIL terrorists,” the Arabic-language al-Sabah newspaper quoted an informed source as saying.
“Over 473 ISIL terrorists have been killed in the Mosul liberation operation and 22 others have been captured by Friday night,” the center said.
Two-Pronged Offensive against ISIL in Bashiqa Launched
A major offensive against ISIL positions at the town of Bashiqa Northeast of Mosul was launched by the Kurdish Peshmerga forces on Sunday as part of an ongoing operation against the terrorist’s group to recapture ISIL last stronghold city in Iraq, Mosul.
The offensive, launched on two fronts on Sunday and the Kurdish forces plan to press militants from the two different fronts, according to a statement from the Kurdish general command, Rudaw reported.
